Features

Hybrid MAX Powertrain

Underneath Toyota Crown’s cutting-edge design is an available Hybrid MAX powertrain. This available powertrain pairs Toyota Crown’s 2.4L turbocharged engine with electric motors—generating an exceptional 340 combined net horsepower with 400 lb.-ft. of torque. The dynamic placement of the electric motors between the engine and transmission allows for power to be transferred without any lag. The result? 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds. 9 So, whether merging onto the freeway or driving down city streets, the second you feel the instantaneous torque across the powerband, you’re ready to take on the day.

Hybrid Power and Efficiency

Toyota Crown XLE and Limited are equipped with a highly efficient hybrid system that features a high-output bipolar nickel-metal hydride battery that provides 236 combined net horsepower. Toyota Crown has a remarkable combination of power and efficiency, with an EPA-estimated 41 mpg combined rating. 10

Driving Confidence

Toyota Crown’s standard All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system automatically supplies power to the rear wheels to help improve traction. The Hybrid MAX powertrain with Full-Time Electronic All-Wheel Drive adjusts between a 70/30 and 20/80 front-and rear-wheel power split for more precise control, while the traditional hybrid powertrains use Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive to send up to 80% of power to the rear wheels for more muscle, or automatically operate in FWD mode to optimize fuel efficiency. When driving through less than perfect road conditions, both advanced systems give you the peace of mind to power through.

Disruptive Design

Toyota Crown breaks every convention in the book—and does so in a bold and fearless fashion. At first glance, its dynamically proportioned design gives it an elegant and streamlined appearance. And the sharp line of the Daytime Running Lights emphasizes its contemporary grille, while its refined taillight flows across the rear to complete this sedan's bold design.

Elevated Cabin

Toyota Crown’s driver-focused cockpit creates an instinctual connection between driver and machine. Inside its elevated cabin, Toyota Crown features sophisticated soft-touch materials, elegant bronze-colored details and available leather-trimmed seats. The standard power-adjustable driver’s seat dynamically adjusts in eight different ways, and the available driver’s-seat memory function remembers your ideal driving position for enhanced comfort and additional lumbar support. Meticulously crafted to the highest standard, Toyota Crown’s premium cabin heightens your senses the moment you get behind the wheel.

Remote Connect

Toyota Crown is up to speed with the latest tech. With an active Remote Connect trial or subscription, 11 you can use the Toyota app 12 to start the engine, lock/unlock doors, and locate your vehicle with your compatible smartphone or smartwatch. 13 One-year trial included. 14

Traffic Jam Assist

Get through congested roads without a hitch. Only on controlled-access highways, and with a required Drive Connect 16 subscription, available Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) 17 helps keep a smooth, steady ride by using a front-mounted radar unit, cameras and sensors to detect vehicles ahead and automatically adjust Toyota Crown to their speeds. TJA accelerates and decelerates the vehicle on its own, without driver intervention; it can even bring the vehicle to a complete stop and resume driving when the traffic ahead moves, helping make traffic jams a little more bearable.

Blind Spot Monitor With Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Assist

Standard Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) 20 with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) 21 is designed to help look out for other vehicles. Blind Spot Monitor warns you when a vehicle in the next lane enters Toyota Crown’s blind spot on either side of the vehicle. With Safe Exit Assist, 22 if the system determines there may be a collision with a door opening, an audible alert sounds, and a visual alert appears on the outside mirrors. When you’re in reverse, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert helps detect vehicles approaching from either side, warning you with side mirror indicators and a warning tone.

Panoramic View Monitor

Toyota Crown’s available Panoramic View Monitor 8 helps you check your surroundings for hazards. It uses four cameras, one on each side of the vehicle, to display a panoramic view on the touchscreen display. When you’re parked and using the Moving View setting, Toyota Crown creates an animated virtual view from above to give you a bigger picture of what’s around.

Lane Change Assist

Toyota Crown is equipped to assist with lane changes. By partially engaging the turn signal, available Lane Change Assist 23 confirms there are no vehicles in your way and provides steering assistance into the next lane.

We have expanded our hybrid battery warranty to reflect our confidence in the quality, dependability and reliability of our products. From the 2020 model year forward, every Toyota Hybrid Battery Warranty covers 10 years from date of first use or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first (previously 8 years or 100,000 miles). 24

Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection

Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD) 25 is designed to help detect a vehicle, pedestrian, bicyclist or motorcyclist and provide an audio/visual forward-collision warning under certain circumstances. If you don’t react, the system is designed to provide automatic emergency braking.

Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

Intended for highway use, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) 26 is an adaptive cruise control system that is designed to be set at speeds above 20 mph and uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control to help maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead of you.

Lane Departure Alert With Steering Assist

When white/yellow lane markings or certain road-edge boundary lines are detected at speeds above 30 mph, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) 27 is designed to issue an audio/visual lane departure warning if an inadvertent lane departure is detected. If the driver does not take corrective action, the system is also designed to provide gentle corrective steering for lane-keeping assistance.

Lane Tracing Assist

When Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) 26 is enabled and lane markers are detected, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) 28 uses the lines on the road and/or preceding vehicles to provide active driving assistance and help keep the vehicle centered in its lane. While LTA is activated, the Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS) 29 is designed to monitor the driver's inputs, such as steering operation. If the EDSS determines the driver is not attentive and the driver does not respond to prompts to resume control of the vehicle, it can bring the vehicle to a stop under certain conditions.

Road Sign Assist

Using an intelligent camera, Road Sign Assist (RSA) 30 is designed to detect speed limit signs, stop signs, Do Not Enter signs, yield signs and certain warning signs, and display an icon of the sign on the Multi-Information Display (MID).

Automatic High Beams

Automatic High Beams (AHB) 31 are designed to help you see more clearly at night at speeds above 21 mph. The AHB system is designed to detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of preceding vehicles, then automatically toggle between high and low beams accordingly.

Proactive Driving Assist

When system operating conditions are met, using the vehicle’s camera and radar, Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) 32 provides gentle braking into curves or gentle braking and/or steering to help support driving tasks such as distance control between your vehicle and a preceding vehicle, pedestrian or bicyclist.
