Sport Mode provides sharper acceleration, Eco Mode helps maximize fuel efficiency, and Normal Mode blends fuel economy with performance. And for more capability when the pavement ends, Grand Highlander features Multi-Terrain Select or Trail Mode on all-wheel-drive models. Choose between four modes (Mud & Sand, Rock & Dirt, Snow, and Normal) for improved traction. When activated, the system is designed to sense slippage and regulate wheelspin—helping you to conquer the backroads.

Grand Highlander is one step ahead of your needs. Access the rear cargo area with the touch of a button from your key fob, instrument panel or the liftgate itself. When you find your hands full with gear or groceries, and with the Smart Key in your pocket or purse, perform a kicking motion under the rear bumper to activate the opening of the rear liftgate.9

Grand Highlander’s available Panoramic View Monitor (PVM)12 helps you check your surroundings for hazards. It uses four cameras to display a panoramic view on the touchscreen display. When you’re parked and using the Moving View setting, it creates a virtual view from above to give you a bigger picture of what’s around Grand Highlander.

Make parking easy, and reversing out even easier, with available Parking Assist with Automatic Braking (PA w/AB).11 The system visually warns you when it detects stationary objects or vehicles approaching from the rear. If the system determines there may be contact with a detected obstacle or vehicle, it will reduce engine power and/or apply the brakes.

The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD)21 is designed to help detect a vehicle, pedestrian, bicyclist or motorcyclist and provide an audio/visual forward-collision warning under certain circumstances. If you don’t react, the system is designed to provide automatic emergency braking.

By detecting visible white/yellow lane markings or the road’s edge at speeds above 30 mph, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA)23 is designed to issue an audio/visual lane departure warning if an inadvertent lane departure is detected. If the driver does not take corrective action, the Steering Assist function is designed to provide gentle corrective steering for lane-keeping assistance.

Using an intelligent camera, Road Sign Assist (RSA)26 is designed to detect speed limit signs, stop signs, Do Not Enter signs, yield signs and certain warning signs, and display an icon of the sign on the Multi-Information Display (MID).

When system operating conditions are met, using Grand Highlander’s camera and radar, Proactive Driving Assist (PDA)28 provides gentle braking into curves, or gentle braking and/or steering, to help support driving tasks such as distance control between your vehicle and a preceding vehicle, pedestrian or bicyclist.
